We reproduce the press release issued by the Centro Missionario Medicinali di Firenze, which takes stock of the collaboration with Biodue for the donation of food supplements and medical devices.
THANKS TO A NETWORK OF SOLIDARITY, THE MISSIONARY MEDICAL CENTRE ODV CONTINUES TO COLLECT AND SEND BOTH MEDICINES AND MEDICAL-SURGICAL AIDS TO THOSE WHO DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO MEDICAL CARE
The Centro Missionario Medicinali (Medicines Missionary Centre) has been operating in Florence for over forty years. The Centre’s work is inspired by the missionary action of the Catholic Church, which is addressed to all individuals without any discrimination. The ODV Association sends free medicines and medical-surgical aids to those who do not have access to medical care and who find themselves in conditions of serious health emergency. In the last few years of activity, the ODV Missionary Drug Centre has seen an increase in shipments of medicines of over 50 % from the previous 4 years. Tonnes of medicines have reached: Africa, Asia, Latin America, Europe and not least the distribution in the city and region.
“This is an activity that has been going on continuously over time,’ explains Massimo Ghiribelli, President of CMM, ‘and which involves various realities on the Italian territory in terms of facilities, organisations and companies that donate drugs or help in the collection of medical-pharmaceutical devices. But it is precisely on our territory,’ Ghiribelli specifies, ‘that we have established a fruitful relationship of collaboration with all those companies and partners that network and actively contribute to meeting the needs of a user group characterised by social vulnerability in this particular historical moment.”
Solidarity, respect for human life, as well as the right to health represent the voluntary work carried out by the Mission Centre, values shared and supported by one of the partner companies that in the last 3 years has been characterised by the constancy of its donations: BioDue S.p.A, an excellence that has been active in Tuscany for 37 years and produces food/nutraceutical supplements, functional cosmetics and medical devices.
Thanks to the large donations in terms of products, granted by BioDue in recent years, the Association has been better able to cope with the ever-increasing number of requests coming in from the city area.
Dr. Luca Sforazzini of BioDue, declares: “The decision to start this project with CMM stems from the recognition of the important role that the Association has played since its foundation in supporting the most fragile people, and has found a concrete follow-up in the projects that have been implemented together in the area in recent years. The initiative is part of the development path under the banner of social and environmental sustainability that Biodue has undertaken in recent years; a project whose ambition is to represent the company’s values with an increasingly important contribution. Charities and poor people need medicines all year round”.
